Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh is a Palestinian scientist and activist known for his work in promoting human rights and environmental sustainability.

He has published important works on the environmental devastation in Gaza and the West Bank. He highlights how the global environmental crises, climate change in the Middle East, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza are putting Palestinian survival at huge risk.

His books Popular Resistance in Palestine and Sharing the Land of Canaan focus on the Palestinian struggle for self-determination as well as the importance of ecological preservation.

Qumsiyeh's background in genetics and biology led him to prestigious teaching positions at Yale and Duke. He is currently a professor at Bethlehem and Birzeit Universities.

As an advocate for peaceful coexistence and justice, he founded the Palestine Museum of Natural History and the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of the region's natural and cultural heritage.

Qumsiyeh is an activist for Palestinian rights, peace and autonomy. Working with a number of civil society organisations, he has mobilised numerous mass protests in the U.S., bolstering support for Palestinian liberation and the pro-Palestine movement.

Education and empowerment are at the core of his work as he strives to create a better world for everyone through knowledge and action.
