➡️ PEACE ONE DAY - UK Nonprofit raising awareness for Peace Day

With a mission to expose as many people as possible to the message of International Peace Day, Peace One Day is a global initiative dedicated to promoting peace and reducing violent conflict.

Founded by filmmaker Jeremy Gilley in 1999, the initiative has succeeded in spreading the message to 116 countries. During the 2019, 20-year anniversary celebration, #PeaceDay was circulated by 19 million X users!

Never before has the need for peace been so urgent as the world experiences the highest number of conflicts since 1945 (the end of WWII). Two billion people are currently living in areas with violent conflict – the equivalent of one-quarter of the human population.

Peace One Day set out to end the confusion around the United Nations Day of Peace, which originally fell on the third Tuesday of September. In 2001, the UN formally established September 21 as the International Day of Peace, which calls for a global ceasefire and nonviolence.

By raising awareness and uniting individuals, communities, and organisations, they foster tolerance and understanding, directing attention towards conflict resolution and non-violent solutions. The work of Peace One Day has been instrumental in new resolution processes concerning peace efforts.

Compared to other days in the year, September 21, 2022 recorded a 15% decrease in deaths, a remarkable feat for both Peace One Day and the UN.

This year's celebration will be held ONLINE from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. London time and broadcast around the world. It will bring together thousands of peace advocates and millions of people in a massive call for global peace. The event is supported by influential voices such as Bob Geldof, Jude Law, Jeremy Gilley, and Ahmad Fawzi.
