About Rachael

Having spent most of her life abroad in Asia, Central America, and Australia, she has developed a broad perspective on the world.

She spent many years working as an English teacher in a small town in Guatemala, where she learned to appreciate the value of different cultures, traditions, religions, and languages.

In a part of the world where many animals live a cruel life on the streets, her love for animals grew. She became involved with two rescue, sterilisation, and adoption programmes to help with the huge street dog population – The DOX Project and Perros Libres - two wonderful nonprofit organisations.

In her spare time, she is likely to be found in the mountains, counting Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro, the Tour du Mont Blanc, Mount Toubkal, the Camino de Santiago, the Patagonia O circuit, and the MIUT thru-hike in Madeira as her biggest achievements so far. Currently, she is working on completing the Wainwright Fells.

When she isn't in the mountains she is likely volunteering with animals, training for a marathon, or practicing yoga!

As a keen traveller, she has visited 65 countries across all seven continents.

She has followed a vegetarian diet for more than 2 decades.

Her special interests are social justice, peace, environmental protection, animal rights, women's education, gender equality, and British politics.
