Guide on ➡️ Islam
Islam is a monotheistic faith that emerged in the 7th century CE in the Arabian Peninsula. It is founded on the revelations received by the Prophet Muhammad, regarded as the final prophet in a long line of messengers that includes figures such as Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. These revelations are compiled in the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam, which serves as a guide for personal conduct and community governance.
Central to Islam is the belief in one God, Allah, and the practice of the Five Pillars, which include the declaration of faith (Shahada), prayer (Salah), almsgiving (Zakat), fasting during Ramadan (Sawm), and pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj). These pillars form the framework for a Muslim's faith and actions.
Islam is the second-largest religion in the world, following Christianity. With 1.9 billion adherents, Muslims, the followers of Islam, make up 24% of the global population. Muslims are a diverse group, with significant populations across the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, and beyond. The religion has a rich cultural and historical legacy, influencing art, science, and philosophy throughout the centuries.
