In October 2023, Hamas attacked Israel, as part of the longstanding conflict between Hamas militants and the Israeli army. Storming the border from Gaza, militants launched over 3,000 missiles. Israel declared war on Hamas and responded with ongoing airstrikes in the densely populated Gaza Strip. A year later, bombs alone have killed more than 46,000 Palestinians, including 18,000 children. The bombardment by Israel has destroyed Gaza and resulted in the displacement of 1.9 million Palestinians, cutting them off from supplies of food, water, electricity, and medicine.
