Weapons for Israel's War on Gaza

➡️ WEAPONS FOR ISRAEL'S WAR ON GAZA – Western Complicity & Huge Arms Industry Profits
The massive flow of arms into Israel reflects questionable geopolitical interests and raises serious ethical concerns. Under the guise of 'military aid' and a shroud of secrecy, advanced weaponry, including fighter jets, missile defence systems, and precision-guided munitions, are fueling the war in Gaza, killing Palestinians in their thousands, and undermining peace efforts.
These weapons are being used to commit war crimes in targeted attacks on unarmed civilians, aid centres, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure in what has been described as ecocide, medicide, scholasticide, and genocide.

The U.S. is by far the biggest arms supplier to Israel, since the October 7, 2023, attacks and also historically. A huge two-thirds of Israel's imports from 2020 to 2024 came from the U.S. Serving U.S. interests, the vast majority of U.S. foreign aid to Israel is military. It must be spent on the purchase of American military equipment and services.
In just the first month and a half after the Hamas attack, the U.S. sent Israel 10,000 tons of weapons in 244 cargo planes and 20 ships. On board were more than 15,000 bombs and 50,000 artillery shells.
Even prior to the war on Gaza, the U.S. agreed to provide $3.8 billion a year in support to Israel until 2028. Since the start of the war, the U.S. has sent at least $12.5 billion in direct military aid to Israel!
Controversial American-manufactured 2000-pound bombs have been used by Israel indiscriminately. The size of these bombs is excessive and completely unnecessary. They are not targeted, are capable of destroying entire neighbourhoods, and guarantee high rates of civilian casualties.
We simply MUST implement stricter regulations and oversight on arms sales to ensure compliance with international law, enforce accountability, close loopholes that allow weapons to be sent into war zones, protect human rights, and end the mentality of 'profit over people' that weapons contractors have embraced for decades.

Arms Companies & Profiteers of Genocide
A new report issued by UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese in June 2025 maps the corporations benefiting from Israel's war on Gaza. 'From economy of occupation to economy of genocide' names 48 businesses, including Microsoft, IBM, Palantir Technologies, Alphabet Inc. (owner of Google), and Jeff Bezos' Amazon. These Big-Tech companies enable the surveillance and storage of biometric data on Palestinians.
With supply and demand at an all-time high, minimal regulation, and no accountability, profits are skyrocketing. Led by U.S.-based Lockheed Martin, the F-35 fighter jets exported to Israel were part of the world's largest arms procurement programme. It involved 1,600 companies and eight nations.
Israel's largest defence firm, Elbit Systems and the main protest target of the recently proscribed Palestine Action received $760 million worth of ammunition orders in 2023. In 2024, for the July-September period alone, they posted a net profit of $99 million, representing a 14% increase in revenue.

Foreign arms companies have also been among the biggest winners of the war, as Israel's military spending between 2023 and 2024 surged by 65%, totalling $46.5 billion. Italian manufacturer Leonardo S.p.A and Japan's FANUC Corporation were listed as main contributors in the military sector.
Companies involved in the development of illegal settlements in the West Bank include Caterpillar, Leonardo-owned Rada Electronic Industries, South Korea's HD Hyundai and Sweden's Volvo Group. Rental platforms Booking and Airbnb are also implicated.
U.S. Drummond Company and Switzerland's Glencore were named as the primary suppliers of coal for electricity to Israel. Chinese Bright Dairy & Food and Mexico's Netafim were listed as the main benefactors of land seized from Palestinians in the agricultural sector. Some of the world's largest banks, including France's BNP Paribas and the UK's Barclays, have also stepped up to help fund Israel's war.
The main investors behind a considerable number of these companies are BlackRock and Vanguard. Disturbingly, since the start of the Israeli invasion of Gaza the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange has risen to an unprecedented 179%, an additional $157.9 billion in market value.
Despite the legal obligations of corporate entities to avoid human rights violations (in their supply chains, countries of operation, partnerships, etc), these companies are raking in enormous profits and acting with complete impunity.

Israel – The World's 8th Biggest Weapons Exporter
The issue of weapons in Israel is not solely reserved for imports. Israel has been using Palestine as a testing ground for Israeli military exports for years. The Israeli defence industry is recording profits by selling weapons it used on Palestinians.
In 2024, Israeli weapons export contracts exceeded $14.8 billion, marking record sales for the fourth consecutive year. Israel now ranks 8th among the world's top arms traders and was responsible for 3.1% of global arms deals between 2020 and 2024.
High-tech weapons, AI, and mass surveillance equipment are facilitating repression, destruction, death and illegal occupation. These 'battle-tested' weapons are then sold globally to complicit nations. Israeli automated weaponry has been exported to at least 130 countries around the world, setting a dangerous precedent for future conflicts.

The BDS Movement & Weapons Embargos
Boycott, Divest, and Sanction is a tactic, not an organisation. The movement against Israel was inspired by the South African anti-apartheid struggle and the U.S. civil rights movement - both of which were successful in their goals.
The BDS movement began in 2005 and is a pro-Palestine campaign fighting for the freedom, justice, and equality of Palestinian people, and to shake up Western support of the Israeli government. The idea is to place significant pressure on Israel until the government abides by international law and ends discriminatory policies towards Palestinians.
The movement exists despite the Israeli Anti-Boycott Act, which prohibits the promotion of all forms of boycott against Israel, the occupation, and the illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
An arms embargo prohibits military aid, restricts the import and export of weapons and related technology into and out of a conflict region, and prevents the transit of weapons through a country's territory. By doing so, nations can limit the suffering of civilian society, reduce humanitarian crises, and ultimately end violence.
Israel heavily depends on exports to the Global South. During the peak of the Nagorno-Karabakh war, Azerbaijan purchased 69% of its weapons from Israel. Israel is also a key supplier of military equipment and spyware to authoritarian regimes in many Arab States.
Many countries have implemented variations of an arms embargo, including partial embargos, suspended contracts, or closed their ports. Some, however, are merely implimenting clever marketing campaigns to deflect scrutiny and avoid becoming targets of activist groups.

The Hague Group
The Hague Group is a collaboration of nations from the Global South which was formed to protect and uphold the rulings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) concerning the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. In a significant step at a recent meeting, 12 countries agreed to take immediate and concrete action against Israel, including -
-
Preventing the transfer of arms, munitions and fuel.
-
Barring Israel from using its ports.
-
Commencing an urgent review of all contracts.
-
Recommitting to complying with the obligations for accountability under international law.
-
Supporting universal jurisdiction mandates.
The countries involved are Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Indonesia, Iraq, Libya, Malaysia, Namibia, Nicaragua, Oman, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, and South Africa. There is much optimism that others will follow suit.
Putting an end to the unnecessary death, destruction, and suffering that have surrounded this part of the world for decades must be a priority. With violence escalating and death tolls increasing by the day, the time to call for a ceasefire is now!
Supporting a peaceful resolution and an immediate end to the violence is not the same as choosing sides. The uplifting of one does not have to mean the trampling of another.
We do not stand against boycotts or the state of Israel, but we do fight for human rights, social justice, equality, democracy, and peace. This is a crucial time to apply pressure on world leaders to demand a ceasefire. With two-thirds of U.S., UK, and European voters and taxpayers in favour of de-escalation, we must use our collective voice to say no to military first approaches.
Expert input is more than welcome.
