Narges Mohammadi - Iranian Human Rights Activist

In 2023, Narges won the Nobel Prize for her activism against the oppression of women in Iran. As vice-president of the Defenders of Human Rights Centre, she was charged with propaganda against the state. Having spent over a decade in prison, she received another 7.5-year sentence in early 2026. Now hospitalised, her family is deeply concerned for her welfare in notorious Iranian detention facilities.

Deadly Anti-Regime Protests in Iran (2025-2026)

Widespread discontent with the Islamic Republic government, its mishandling of the ongoing economic crisis, and its brutal stronghold on the country have continued to worsen. The protests were the largest uprising since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The Iranian government responded with deadly force, killing more than 6,000, injuring thousands more, and arresting more than 24,000.

Mahsa Amini & Iran Anti-Regime Protests (2022-2023)

Protests sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini, while under arrest for violation of the strict hijab law, rocked Iran for months. Demonstrations against mandatory hijab use evolved into demands for freedoms, women's rights, and against the morality police and the harsh Iranian regime. Labelled the Iranian Revolution, the government responded with widespread internet blackouts, tear gas, and gunfire.
